Le terme «durcissement par hydratation» nous paraît très douteux parce que le terme «hydratation» se rapporte à «Fixation d'eau sur une espèce chimique» et à la «transformation en hydrate» (LAROG). Il convient de faire des distinctions entre les termes «réticulation», «séchage» et «durcissement» qui sont des spécifiques entre lesquels il faudra choisir en fonction de l'aspect que l'on désirera faire ressortir. L'équivalent général de l'anglais «curing» est «traitement» ou «cuisson». Le «durcissement» est le phénomène produit par ce traitement. La «réticulation» est la transformation qui en résulte, et celle-ci aboutit à la «prise» (en anglais : «setting») du produit. Le «séchage» désigne aussi des transformations produites, et dans ce cas-ci accélérées, par l'emploi d'un durcisseur.
